Kale Chips
If you're a lover of savory snacks, you'll be a fan of these Kale chips. Kale is low in calorie, high in fiber and has zero fat! Try pairing it with a sweet dip for a taste bud touchdown.
Ingredients
Chips
- 1 head of kale, steams removed and torn into chip-sized pieces
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- Chili powder
- Garlic powder
- 1 dash Salt
Dip (Optional):
- 1 cup fat-free plain Greek yogurt
- 1 teaspoon finely grated lemon zest
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
Preparation
- Preheat oven to 350° F.
- Make sure kale is thoroughly dry.
- Spray a cookie sheet with cooking spray.
- Toss kale with oil in mixing bowl, the more saturated each leaf is, the crunchier the kale chips!
- Place kale on the baking sheet, be sure not to overlap them!
- Season evenly with chili powder, garlic powder, and salt.
- Bake for 10 minutes, flip to other side and cook for 5 minutes.
- Allow kale chips to cool on baking sheet for about 5 minutes to finish crisping before serving.
Tip
Be careful if you are taking a medication called warfarin (Coumadin)! Vitamin K present in kale may decrease the effectiveness of warfarin. For a sweet touch, make the same recipe with a raw potato (or sweet potato).
