Give now to support diabetes care at Parkland

With more than 30,000 patients with diabetes actively seen within Parkland, adequate access, screening, preventive care, self-management education and support become an enormous and ever pressing challenge for Parkland and the community. The Global Diabetes Program was created to address the burden of uncontrolled diabetes and related complications that is plaguing Dallas County in general, and the vulnerable Parkland population in particular.

The Global Diabetes Program will improve the lives and health of people with diabetes through:

  • Patient-centered evidence-based care
  • Education
  • Research
  • Community partnerships.

Working in close collaboration with multiple stakeholders, Parkland is organizing a multidisciplinary, multispecialty group of talented and passionate professionals that can address the many issues that individuals with diabetes face, from the very basic understanding of what it means living with diabetes, to the management of the most complex cases and complications of the disease.

Parkland’s current footprint as a multidisciplinary outpatient specialty clinic, an inpatient diabetes consult service, a training program for advanced practice providers, a patient and professional education center in the making, and a close partner with population health are but the first steps in the vision to establish Parkland as an internationally recognized safety net health system for patient-centered diabetes care.
