If you're a lover of savory snacks, you'll be a fan of these Kale chips. Kale is low in calorie, high in fiber and has zero fat! Try pairing it with a sweet dip for a taste bud touchdown.

Ingredients

Chips

  • 1 head of kale, steams removed and torn into chip-sized pieces
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • Chili powder
  • Garlic powder
  • 1 dash Salt

Dip (Optional):

  • 1 cup fat-free plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon finely grated lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

Preparation

  • Preheat oven to 350° F.
  • Make sure kale is thoroughly dry.
  • Spray a cookie sheet with cooking spray.
  • Toss kale with oil in mixing bowl, the more saturated each leaf is, the crunchier the kale chips!
  • Place kale on the baking sheet, be sure not to overlap them!
  • Season evenly with chili powder, garlic powder, and salt.
  • Bake for 10 minutes, flip to other side and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Allow kale chips to cool on baking sheet for about 5 minutes to finish crisping before serving.

Tip

Be careful if you are taking a medication called warfarin (Coumadin)! Vitamin K present in kale may decrease the effectiveness of warfarin. For a sweet touch, make the same recipe with a raw potato (or sweet potato).
